What is an eSIM?
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your device that lets you activate a mobile data plan without a physical SIM card. It performs the same functions as a physical SIM for data connectivity. Most phones manufactured since 2018 support eSIM.
Is my phone eSIM compatible?
- Most iPhones from XS/XR onward and many Android devices (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.) support eSIM.
- iOS: Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM.
- Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM.
Can I use an eSIM if my phone is locked?
No. Your device must be unlocked (not restricted to a single carrier). On iOS 14+, go to Settings → General → About and check Carrier Lock. If it says "No SIM Restrictions", your device is unlocked.
How do I install my eSIM on my iPhone or iPad?
- The easiest way is Quick Install — tap the iOS button in your My eSIMs page and your phone handles the rest (iOS 17.4+ only). Or open your Camera, point it at the QR code, and tap "Mobile Plan" when the banner appears.
- No camera handy? Go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM → Use QR Code and scan from there.
- Prefer to enter it manually? In that same QR screen, tap "Enter Details Manually" and type in the SM‑DP+ Address and Activation Code shown in your My eSIMs page.
- Once it's added: turn off mobile data on your regular SIM, set the eSIM as your data line, and enable Data Roaming on it. Skip that last step and you won't get internet abroad.
How do I install my eSIM on my Android device?
- The quickest option is Quick Install — tap the Android button in your My eSIMs page (you'll need the latest SIM Manager from the Play Store). You can also open your Camera, scan the QR code, and tap "Add Plan to Phone".
- Or go to Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Add eSIM and scan from there.
- No QR? Tap "Enter Activation Code" in the same screen and paste in the LPA string shown in your My eSIMs page.
- After it's installed: turn off data on your regular SIM, set the eSIM as your mobile data line, and turn on Data Roaming for it. That last step is what actually gets you online.
I just installed my eSIM — what do I do now?
You can install the eSIM at home before your trip, but don't turn on mobile data until you actually arrive at your destination — that's when the validity period starts. Once you're there, turn off data on your regular SIM (so it doesn't rack up roaming charges), set the eSIM as your data line, and enable Data Roaming on it. Give it a couple of minutes to connect — it's totally normal for the network to take a moment to register. Your regular SIM stays active the whole time for calls and texts, so you won't miss anything.
I installed my eSIM but I still have no data — what should I do?
- The most common culprit is Data Roaming not being enabled on the eSIM line — it's easy to miss. On iPhone: Settings → tap your eSIM line name → Data Roaming → On. On Android: Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → Data Roaming → On.
- Also check that mobile data is actually set to your eSIM, not your regular SIM. On iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → select your eSIM. On Android: Settings → Connections → SIM Manager → Mobile Data.
- After making those changes, give it 2–5 minutes. The phone needs a moment to register on a local network — that's normal.
- Still nothing? Try toggling Airplane Mode on for 30 seconds, then off. That usually kicks the connection. If it doesn't, go to your eSIM line's network settings, switch to Manual network selection, pick any carrier from the list, then switch back to Automatic.
- If you've tried everything and it's still not working, restart your device and reach out to us with your order number — we'll get it sorted.
When does my eSIM plan validity start?
The validity period starts when your eSIM first connects to a supported network at your destination, not when you install it. You can install before your trip and activate upon arrival.
Do I need to turn on Data Roaming?
Yes. Data Roaming must be enabled for your eSIM to connect to local networks. This does not incur roaming charges on your eSIM plan—you're using the data you purchased.
Can I use my home number SIM with an eSIM?
- You can keep your physical SIM for calls and SMS and use the eSIM for data.
- Set the eSIM as your mobile data line and enable Data Roaming only for the eSIM.
- Turn off Data Roaming on your home SIM to avoid extra charges.
Are voice calls and SMS included?
Our eSIM plans are data-only. You can make calls and send messages via apps like WhatsApp, FaceTime, Telegram, Skype, or iMessage over the data connection.
How do I get my eSIM after payment?
Your eSIM is available right away in the "My eSIMs" section of the app (when logged in). We also send it to your email so you can access it from there. Check your inbox and spam folder. You can install it before or during your trip.
I lost my eSIM QR code. What can I do?
Your QR code and activation details are always available in the "My eSIMs" section of the app when logged in. If you no longer have access, contact our support team with your order number or email.
Can I reinstall my eSIM if I delete it?
Once an eSIM is deleted from your device, it generally cannot be reinstalled. Before deleting, make sure your plan validity has not started or has expired. If you accidentally delete an active eSIM, contact our support team — in some cases a replacement may be issued at the provider's discretion.
